Family dinner

Charles spent the afternoon talking with Bar to try and figure out the best and selection of food for this meeting.

The end result was a table in his room, a menu recreated from something the family cook used to make of a lamb roast, vegetables, good wine and Raven's favorite dessert.

He knows he's worrying too much but he wants this all to work, the future all depends on people getting along.

"I know and I have worn more modern suits. It was useful at Oxford to dress more conservative as my ideas aren't and I like my suits."

"The point of all this," and here is where Iris stops pretending to truly be eating the meal, "I want to truly benefit your world. I cannot sit by and not help those who I have chosen to care for."

Raven mimes talking with one hand - blah, blah, blah.

But she snaps back to seriousness for the second part of the conversation.

"What would that involve?"

"More of what we're doing now, finding other mutants, coming together until we're at a good point where we can be open to humanity."

[chrysopteron]

Immediate addendum: "Doing my utmost to make sure my loved ones do not come to harm."

And those that Charles care about.

"Right, okay."

The look on Raven's face clearly spells out that she's skeptical of that possibility.

Unless Iris has the ability to be everywhere at once.

"Of course, we all have to take care of each other since we don't know what the future will bring,"

The various futures he's heard of here for mutantkind all seem worse than the next so he's going to do what he can to make theirs better.

"I am simply hopeful that the future brings dessert."

While truthful (as always), Iris is also maybe practicing tactful changes of topic.

"Well?"

A pointed glance in Charles' direction.

"One moment,"

He stands up and kisses both of them on the cheek on his way to get the dessert.

While Raven and Iris are the only two at the table:

"Thank you."

"For what?"

[chrysopteron]

"I am also someone's sister.

"I appreciate the opportunity to show that I am worthy."

[andproud]

She shrugs nonchalantly, trying to downplay the moment when that resonates.

"Yeah, sure. Whatever."

Charles comes back in with the dessert and looks over their faces, he's not sure if they seem more comfortable or not,

"Dessert, I had to look for the right plates."

"How do plates make a dessert better?"

[andproud]

"Trust me," Raven mutters.

"He's even a stickler about which fork to use."

"Because there are certain forks that are made and work best for eating various things,"

He sighs as he sits down, its also what he was taught, everything should be done the right way.

"There is a peace in tradition."
