Waking with Iris

He woke in confusion as he relaxed his shields and couldn't figure out all the minds and where they all were in Milliways.

When he felt Iris beside him, he took a breath and watched her sleep as he took stock and found his balance once more.

His tea now has milk and sugar added to it and he leans against the counter as he considers her in all her loveliness,

"I live with my sister so we don't walk around without something in the morning."

"I suppose that makes sense. Though I would say that most men do not take issue with being nude in my time."

It is something for Iris to look forward to!

"What is usually next?" she asks, copying Charles' habits with the tea.

"My morning's usually aren't this relaxed. I tend to wake up, get dressed, have my tea and breakfast before heading out to work. This morning though I'm not sure. I'm not hungry quite yet and we can order breakfast from the rats for here. We don't have to go downstairs or even be dressed until we want to."

"My mornings are not normally this relaxed either. I listen to the needs of my own projects, and my own duties from the Twelve.

"When I do eat it is nectar and ambrosia, but I can eat anything."

"It's wonderful to not have anything pressing upon us. What do you like best of mortal foods?"

He walks closer to her to lean towards her on the counter.

"Mmm -- dark wines, almonds. Oh!" Iris makes a slender fist of her right hand, "The grapefruit along the coast grow as big as this, they're perfect."

"Then we'll have some of those. Grapefruit for breakfast with some sugar on it can be tasty though I might also order some crumpets and perhaps some bacon too."

Iris just beams up at him.

"How are you this -- you?"

[balancingminds]

He laughs and kisses her, "I'm happy and can't think of anything more I want this morning."

[chrysopteron]

You sound as though you'd never been happy before.

[balancingminds]

I've never been this sort of happy with you before. The comfortable happy of morning with nothing pulling as away. There are many types of happiness.

[chrysopteron]

Agápe, éros, philía, storgē. This I understand.

"Though the milk in the tea business seems too much," she concludes.

[balancingminds]

"Yes, I love all the words for love and sometimes they don't seem to cover everything. You don't have to put milk in your tea. It's just how I do it."

[chrysopteron]

"But I don't know if I like it until I try." As though it's the most obvious thing in the world.

It's been a common topic for Iris lately.

[balancingminds]

"Quite true. There's enough for you have to another cup without milk."

[chrysopteron]

Iris shrugs one shoulder, making her feathers shift. She will get around to it.

"Maybe I will ask the bar to magick you a pair of wings. I go flying in the morning sometimes."

[balancingminds]

"You'd have to teach me how to fly as I wouldn't know where to begin."

[chrysopteron]

"I am certain you would be my greatest student," she laughs.

[balancingminds]

He kisses her before taking another sip of tea, "If its possible then I want to try."

[chrysopteron]

Iris shifts to sit right in front of where Charles is standing, placing her hands behind his knees when she looks up at him.

I will see what I can do.

But then she is sort of simply...watching him. Charles in his robe, and tea, and so very content with his circumstance.

He looks down at her as he tries to figure out how that position is comfortable for her and kisses her forehead,

Of course it is comfortable. It is nearly devotional.

Plus Charles has attractive knees - all light hair and the start of muscle.






"I think I need to practice my shields," Iris says quickly. "Looking at your feet is even making me remember."

This stuff is hard.

[balancingminds]

"Well, we wouldn't want the lady Hera to know too much about my feet or knees. Imagine tucking the memories away into water around you, part of you but not visible,"

It's not a posture he's had many people take up before but then his time with Iris is full of wonderful, new experiences.

Charles stays between Iris' legs like this. There is no downside.

In Iris' mind, last night and this morning start to gather in her ewer - protection.

He smiles at her use of the ewer and runs his hand not holding tea through her hair,

"Yes, that's perfect and only you know where your ewer is."
