Charles moves quickly getting them upstairs and opening the door to the room he has here.

Inside it looks like his room at home, dark colors, lots of books, a table with a chess sets and he laughs as he closes the door behind them.

Jason almost makes a comment about Charles being welcome to be honest with him but the thought scares him. Not Charles' abilities or Charles himself but it the thought that he could fall in love with Charles. Give the way his life is, it won't do either of them any good. He may never find this place again, he may never see Charles again and giving away his heart so easily would only hurt them both.

He kisses the top of Charles' head, already prepared for hurt before he asks the question. "Do you want me to go?"

"No, I want you to stay here as long as you can. Time is on our side here, other rules don't matter," He hugs Jason kissing what he can reach which ends up being his neck, "I don't know when this might ever happen again and want it to last."

Jason softens and shifts to kiss Charles properly. The kiss is slow ans sweet and says all the things Jason has trouble wrapping words around. Mostly about gratitude for wanting him around.

He pulls a blanket up over them. "Nap for a bit. After that, we can try anything you wanna try. I won't go anywhere just yet."

"Thank you," Before he sleeps, Charles closes his eyes tightly to keep the dreams quiet before falling asleep.

Jason stays awake a while, just watching Charles. He tries to keep his thoughts as quiet as he can, practicing the stuff J'onn taugh him so he doesn't bother Charles too much.

He eventually drifts off, holding Charles close and trying to remember the last time he felt safe sleeping with someone like this. He make peace Charles with a lingering image of a sexy, dark haired woman who purrs as she strokes Jason's hair back from his face.

He sleeps deeply, he's good at putting all of his shields up when he rests to keep the world out. When he wakes, he lays listening to Jason breath, if anyone knew about this at home he would be in such trouble.

Here though the rules are different, he knew he could be honest about being a mutant and a telepath but this. Even in the City, a man wanting to be with another man is asking for horrible kinds of trouble if they didn't keep it really secret.

Jason wakes slowly, not yet opening his eyes but aware from his breathing that Charles is awake too. "I don't need to be a telepath to know you're thinking too much right now."

Pot, kettle, black. Jason has a Bat's gift for brooding.

He turns his head to kiss Charles' brow. "Wanna talk about it?"

"I'm feeling lucky that Milliways exists. I always do that, Raven teases me about. She says sometimes you're never going to understand and its better to be and follow what you know. But its never that simple,"

Charles curls into Jason, he knows how everyone hurts and even fear comes from a place he understands.

Jason shifts to make himself more comfortable, curling a leg around Charles' and rubbing his foot casually over Charles' ankle. "This Raven your girlfriend?" That would explain a lot of the repression issues. Especially if this is the place he runs away to to be himself.

"No, my sister. I don't have a girlfriend. I mean I've had girls I've gone steady with, but not now. I like them but I like this too,"

Most of the repression comes from when he's from and how he's seen other people push down their own desires. He doesn't like it but its normal in his time.

"Ah, so you're bi, like me? I've been with more guys that girls. Women don't tend to hire underaged pros as much as men do." He says it casually and without shame. "It's only since I stopped working that I've really been with a woman properly." And what a woman!

"I guess. I don't have that much experience. People lie a lot when it comes to relationships and they're bitter. I wish I could find a way to read all of Kinsey, I think he sees how people are more. Its just complicated because what you want and what's proper don't match up. And its tiring,"

He worries that Jason had to work as he calls it a pro but he's comfortable with it, that matters.

Ir people weren't so fucked up about wanted things, I would have starved on the streets. Jason thinks, more to himself than anything else. There might be a bit of bitterness there but he survived when others didn't and that's what matters to him. No-one can make him ashamed of that.

"Well, if this place is all you say it is, seems like a safe place to be out and honest?"

"I'm glad you survived. Yes, but I'm still figuring out how to be out as mutant and a telepath. I'll just add this to the list. When are you from? Is it really easier?"

Everyone seems to be from farther in the future than him or from a different world.

"When?" Jason raises an eyebrow. "This place does time travel too? Shit!" He looks up at the roof for a long moment, considering the ramifications of that.

I'm from Gotham, 2003. And I don't know. I'm sure some people still struggle. Hell, half my regulars were closet-cases. White collar job, wife and kids at home and repressed to shit and back but now... Half the capes I know are out and fine with who they are. Straight, queer, bi. They're just words. Make a list of words long enough to fill a book, still won't say who you really are."

"Sort of," Charles frowned before circling Jason's nipple with his finger, "Milliways is here on the edge of time and space. People come in from all sorts of other places, some people belong here but they're the exception. That's how I'm from New York in 1956 and you're from Gotham and the heroes are different. Milliways is a strange and wonderful place that's only itself."

Year is an approximation due to canon but fifties./

"Weird." Jason sighs softly, shifting slightly to give Charles greater access to his chest. It feels so good to be touched like this, too good to worry about the mechanics of this strange place.

He rubs a lazy hand over Charles' flank, following the curve of his chest and arms. "Can't imagine New York in the 50s. What's it like?"

"Yeah, that's Milliways. Well, its the City. Last night Raven and I went to a new night club that was opening up. It didn't go as smoothly as they planned on it,"

As he keeps tracing designs on Jason's chest, Charles shares a memory of the previous night. Raven looking beautiful and drawing eyes to her, Charles beside her, elegant and still as the City flows around them. The danger of being out late and not in the best part of town, using his telepathy to slip them in, the fight that happened as the music and the dancing went on.

The shared memory surprises Jason at first, his touch stilling as he gets use to the feeling. "Huh. Cool! Must be nice to be able to slip past the bouncers like that?"

"Sorry, should have warned you. Yeah, its nice but we didn't stand out too much there. We're some of the crowd they want to get with money and who like good music. What I like best about the City though is how big it is. At first that scared me but now I know I can get lost in what everyone else is thinking,"

There aren't as many people watching him to see that he's acting like he should.

"No, it's okay. Weird but kinda cool." He cups Charles' cheek to reassure him.

"Must be kinda overwhelming. Like getting caught in a busy train station, being pushed a direction you don't want to go except there are too many people not to be."

"It can be. I have to prepare before I go so its not too much. The first time I went I screamed it was too much, scared Mother and Nanny a lot. My shields are better now,"

He turns to kiss Jason's palm, he likes that what he does doesn't scare him away.

"Do they know? About your abilities?" Jay asks curiously, turning his hand to trace the shape of Charles' lips with the tips of his fingers. A shiver of desire runs through him as he presses his thumb into Charles' month.

"Raven does because she can shapeshift but no one else does,"

When Jason puts his thumb to his mouth, he leans forward to take it all in and sucks, using his tongue like Jason did on him.
