Waking with Iris

He woke in confusion as he relaxed his shields and couldn't figure out all the minds and where they all were in Milliways.

When he felt Iris beside him, he took a breath and watched her sleep as he took stock and found his balance once more.

"Yes, please."

Iris does not spend too long in the shower. After washing her hair, she turns the dials to 'off' and locates a towel to dry herself lightly.

When she steps out from the bathroom however, the towel gets hung on a doorknob and Iris palms her hands over her head and hair - the hair becoming perfectly dry when her hands pass over them.

He watches her dry herself and smiles before heading into the bathroom,

"The tea's steeping and should be ready by the time I come out."

Iris nods with a smile, looking for her peplos.

She doesn't put it on immediately though - letting her wings free, Iris starts to idly check them, brushing them out a bit with her fingers.

The shower is a lovely size and he takes his time washing and shaving before emerging in the robe once more with his hair wet. Then he goes to the teapot to pour out two cups.

Iris looks up from her wingtip at Charles in his robe.

"Why are you dressed?"

"I'm not dressed, I'm just in a robe,"

For him dressing requires more layers of clothing.

Huh?

"You are covered. That is dressed."

Iris is distinctly not covered, by the by, wings arched slightly behind her.

"Well, I'm a bit damp and this is comfortable,"

He's used to living with Raven and while she does live in a robe and probably would happily live in nothing, he likes feeling dressed.

Iris wrinkles her nose.

"At least I know that it isn't because of some sort of modesty."

"Just habit not modesty. Should I take it off?"

[chrysopteron]

"Not at all; not if you wouldn't normally.

"Your habits are important."

His tea now has milk and sugar added to it and he leans against the counter as he considers her in all her loveliness,

"I live with my sister so we don't walk around without something in the morning."

"I suppose that makes sense. Though I would say that most men do not take issue with being nude in my time."

It is something for Iris to look forward to!

"What is usually next?" she asks, copying Charles' habits with the tea.

[balancingminds]

"My morning's usually aren't this relaxed. I tend to wake up, get dressed, have my tea and breakfast before heading out to work. This morning though I'm not sure. I'm not hungry quite yet and we can order breakfast from the rats for here. We don't have to go downstairs or even be dressed until we want to."

"My mornings are not normally this relaxed either. I listen to the needs of my own projects, and my own duties from the Twelve.

"When I do eat it is nectar and ambrosia, but I can eat anything."

[balancingminds]

"It's wonderful to not have anything pressing upon us. What do you like best of mortal foods?"

He walks closer to her to lean towards her on the counter.

"Mmm -- dark wines, almonds. Oh!" Iris makes a slender fist of her right hand, "The grapefruit along the coast grow as big as this, they're perfect."

"Then we'll have some of those. Grapefruit for breakfast with some sugar on it can be tasty though I might also order some crumpets and perhaps some bacon too."

Iris just beams up at him.

"How are you this -- you?"

[balancingminds]

He laughs and kisses her, "I'm happy and can't think of anything more I want this morning."

[chrysopteron]

You sound as though you'd never been happy before.

[balancingminds]

I've never been this sort of happy with you before. The comfortable happy of morning with nothing pulling as away. There are many types of happiness.

[chrysopteron]

Agápe, éros, philía, storgē. This I understand.

"Though the milk in the tea business seems too much," she concludes.

[balancingminds]

"Yes, I love all the words for love and sometimes they don't seem to cover everything. You don't have to put milk in your tea. It's just how I do it."

[chrysopteron]

"But I don't know if I like it until I try." As though it's the most obvious thing in the world.
